Animal Feed – Straight Feeds
Animal feed is the primary focus of our business and everything we do is geared to providing the most cost-effective feed products to match the specific requirements of our livestock customers across the main cattle and sheep enterprises. We were way ahead of all other feed producers in adapting the principles of net energy and effective protein, so that we have been formulating specifically for UFL and PDI for many years before these measures achieved widespread use in the industry.
Less is More in Effective Animal Nutrition
In addition to the early adaption of new Nutrition information, we apply this to the most restricted range of select ingredients to guarantee nutritional integrity. Typically, the top 3 ingredients on any feed label account for well over half the contents and this will become clearer as you see the ingredients being used and compare these with what are being put into the market by mainstream suppliers.
Farm Specific Solutions
We always home in on the most important class of livestock on the farm and depending on the number of feed bins available to the farmer, we recommend a specific feed product that can best meet the needs of all the animals on a particular farm. For example, a farmer whose main focus is a few pens of finishing cattle can choose from one of our premium quality beef rations and take soya separately in a big bag to supplement a separate group of growing weanlings on the farm. On the other hand, a high quality high PDI weaner will drive frame growth where weanlings are the priority for the feed being ordered and this can be topped up with a big bag of maize for a pen of finishing cattle.
These weaner rations are also ready made for inclusion in a total mixed ration (TMR) for milking cows. On farms where there is only one bin available, the same weaner rations are ideal for blowing into the dairy bin when grass tetany is not an issue and this ration can be fed across the board to dairy cows and both weanlings and in-calf heifers on the farm. This is practiced widely in Autumn as housing time approaches on many dairy farms and works a treat.
